Christchurch-owned and operated, Smart Play are The Playground Specialists. Greg and Jane Hansen have owned the business since February 2010 and are all about providing safe, fun, quality playgrounds that are built to last.
At Smart Play, we have installed playgrounds at early childhood centres, schools and parks throughout Christchurch and the South Island. You can also find our playgrounds and soft-fall at shopping malls, airports and cafes. Visit our gallery to see more.
We offer a range of playground services including:
- Full installation, where we design and build the playground, working with you to come up with a tailor-made design to suit your needs and budget. This includes safety surfacing, play equipment and timber edging, as required
- Partial installation, where we install the components of the playground you want, or support you with installation
- Repairs and maintenance
- Upgrades and refurbishments
- Operational Inspections

Smart Play offers a range of safety surfacing products such as, Scuff Pads, Safety Matting, Poured in Place & TPV , bark and woodchip.
Smart Play – The Playground Specialists are the South Island agent for New Zealand owned Playco. The extensive Playco playground equipment range caters for children of all ages. It includes climbing frames, carousels, slides and swings, overhead bars, Springy’s (spring riders) and seesaws and confidence and fitness equipment.
